What is naturopathy?
Naturopathy is a comprehensive system of health care emphasizing the use of natural therapies to prevent illness, support healing and promote health. Naturopathic practitioners do not resort to invasive treatments or remedies with harmful side-effects. They take a holistic approach to health that may emphasize various methods from a wide range of approaches including nutrition, homeopathy, internal cleansing, hygiene, and the therapeutic application of natural substances and energies. In general, these therapies aim to restore health gently rather than treating disease aggressively. Read More...

What is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a system of energy medicine based on the Law of Similars, which says that if a substance causes certain symptoms, it can stimulate the immune system to counteract these symptoms when applied in minimal dosage. Homeopathic preparations contain harmless amounts of the substances they are made from. Read More...

Is naturopathy safe?
Its emphasis on non-toxic, natural therapies and gentle, non-invasive treatments gives naturopathy a head-start in safety. Diagnosis and treatment of disease are outside the realm of naturopathy, however, so we encourage you to seek competent medical advice in these areas so that you can be aware of all treatment options. Naturopathic therapies often complement medical treatment. NDs recognize some conditions that are outside their scope of practice (primary treatment of severe trauma, for example) and refer patients to other health practitioners when appropriate.

What is electrodermal screening (EDS)?
EDS gives us direct access to your body's energetic information system of meridians and acupuncture points. Measurements of electrical conductivity and resistance on acupuncture points is said to reveal information about your body's internal energy processes. EDS practitioners are trained to interpret abnormal readings as indications of bioenergetic disorder ranging from inflammatory stress to degenerative weakness.
EDS does not address the physiological dimension of health or illness as defined by western medicine and has no curative or preventive effects with regard to any disease or symptom of ill health.

What is Electroacupuncture According to Voll (EAV)?
EAV is the original system of electrodermal screening developed in Germany by Dr Voll. His studies of oriental medicine and western biophysics led him to a synthesis their complementary ways of looking at energy and health. According to the IMGEAV, the organization that sets precise standards for EAV devices and methods, the purpose of EAV includes both investigation into the causes of disease and a therapeutic method.
EAV identifies energetic imbalances that accompany disease and seeks to facilitate healing by restoring energetic balance. Resonance testing allows practitioners to test the effects of supplements, homeopathic preparations or other substances on your energy, taking trial and error out of selecting synergistic combinations of remedies and addressing bioenergetic disturbances naturopathically. What is resonance testing?
When a skilled EAV practitioner puts a substance into the test circuit being used to investigate energy distribution and flow in your body, s/he regards the harmonic interplay (resonance) between the test substance and your personal energy as a measure of potential therapeutic benefit. Put simply, resonance tests select remedies based on energetic rather than physiological considerations. The therapeutic goal is to restore your body's capability to self-regulate through processes not regarded as physiological by mainstream medical science.
While the selection of substances for testing begins with a practitioner's consideration of your background, including history and medical diagnosis, remedy selection and dosage recommendations depend on the measured energetic effects of the remedies, not on any projected medicinal effects on symptoms they might have.
EAV and resonance testing do not address the physiological dimension of health or illness as defined by western medicine and have no curative or preventive effects with regard to any disease or symptom of ill health.

Are EAV findings reproducible?
EAV findings of IMGEAV certified practitioners (link to EAV Training) are reproducible. They reliably indicate the energetic status of organs and systems of the human body in accordance with the "energy anatomy" described by acupuncture.
True EAV is a technology-based method of bioenergetic assessment and therapy that draws on over 50 years of co-operative R&D led by medical doctors and research scientists working with standardized equipment. Several equipment manufacturers outside of Germany produce machines that do not conform to the IMGEAV Device Standards; these are not true EAV devices in technology or application. IMGEAV certification is your assurance that a practitioner or an electroacupuncture device fulfills the rigorous requirements of Electroacupuncture According to Voll.

What is a Custom Supplement Protocol?
Essentially, it's a recipe for bringing about energetic order where disorder has gone unchecked. Each naturopathic session at Healing Ways investigates current energetic conditions in your body and leads to the design of a therapy protocol to help you rebuild your health.
Resonance testing guides the design of a non-toxic therapy plan that combines remedies and supplements to balance excesses and deficiencies in your energetic profile. We call this synergistic recipe of supplements, homeopathic preparations, and/or herbal remedies a Custom Supplement Protocol, and it is tailored to restore the flow of energy where it has stagnated and reduce excesses where they are evident.
If it sounds complicated, it is. But the end result, in most cases, is simply wonderful. Often, what were seen as irreversible chronic conditions clear up in as little as a few months of intensive therapy (Success Stories).
We consider the impact of a wide range of factors on your health in order to facilitate healing. We design individualized therapy plans to restore energetic balance so that you become more resistant to disease and better able to heal. These plans take your unique energy profile into account. You can consult with us for more information about a personalized therapy plan for your specific health objectives. For further details, please see the New Clients section of this website.

Is naturopathy the same as homeopathy?
No. Homeopathy is a distinct system of medicine based on the Law of Similars and the principal of minimal dosage. Naturopathy applies many other types of natural therapy, including nutrition, herbal therapy, hygiene, "energy medicine," etc. Some naturopaths practice homeopathy, but not all homeopaths are naturopaths. The common ground between these complementary natural healing arts is also shared by practitioners of EAV. Because we can detect energetic (resonance) effects of homeopathic preparations on acupuncture points and meridians, EAV enables us to fine tune the selection of homeopathic preparations to support your health. How often do I need to come for appointments?
Frequency of appointments depends on your condition and responsiveness to therapy. Normally, after your first 1 ½ hr. visit, we schedule a 1 hr. follow-up session 4—6 weeks later, but you may wish to return sooner. The initial therapy plan usually needs adjustment during that time period, so our most satisfied clients are also our most communicative ones. Short phone consultations as needed between appointments are an important aspect of our customer service.

What kinds of conditions do you address?
We work together with you to optimize your energetic health. You might consult us with a wide range of physiological disorders. Clients have reported improvement and recovery from chronic pain and chronic fatigue, high blood pressure and cholesterol, insomnia, infertility issues, sensory disabilities like hearing problems, allergies, asthma, arthritic conditions, injuries, headaches, digestive problems, skin conditions, menstrual problems, and other acute and chronic complaints (Success stories). But whatever your physical challenge may be, we view it as being secondary to and symptomatic of deeper energetic disorder.
Bioenergetic disorder is not recognized by mainstream medicine as a significant factor in disease causation or in the restoration of health. Nevertheless, we specialize in caring for the web of energy that other systems like traditional Chinese medicine regard as an essential focus of healing arts. We regard energetic health as the basis for physical and mental well being. Nevertheless, if therapy we teach you to apply seems to cause enhanced immune responsiveness and recuperative capability, these results should be regarded as the workings of your own enhanced vitality, not an effect of the therapy. That's why we say, "Don't just treat symptoms. Rebuild your health!"

How can I get the most benefit from naturopathic and bioenergetic therapy?
Results vary individually because many factors affect the outcome of each case. However, most of these influences are matters that you can control. The keys to success in taking control of your health through naturopathic and bioenergetic methods, in our experience, include the following:
- Response-ability - Taking charge of your own life means saying "I am the one who makes the choices that create my reality." When you do this, you put doubt and victimization behind you. When we see clients reclaiming their personal power and owning their outcomes, their progress is rapid and they usually accomplish their goals.
- Compliance - Engaging fully in your healing process means following directions as well as taking control. When it comes to getting results quickly and sustaining them, our most successful clients are those who follow directions consistently and let us know when changes occur in the way they feel or respond to therapy.
- Communication - Keeping us informed about how you're doing is one of the biggest determiners of your rate of progress. When you begin a Custom Supplement Protocol, it begins to work immediately, and your body may shift to a higher level of vitality quite rapidly. That's great, but as you change so does the effect of the remedies, and some dosages may need adjustment in order to sustain their benefits. Ultimately, our aim is to discontinue most of your remedies and supplements and for you to be fine without them. Keeping us informed as your therapy progresses is the best way to ensure your optimal progress.
- Persistence - If your idea of getting better is being able to resume the habits that made you sick in the first place, you probably won't benefit long-term from our approach to health. Healing naturally is a series of choices that requires more of you than just giving it a try. Lasting results are a function of changes that affect your health in many ways. We specialize in facilitating internal changes that can help you feel better, but it's up to you to sustain benefits by making lifestyle choices that prolong and lock in the benefits of naturopathic therapy

Does insurance cover naturopathy?
At this time, most insurance companies have not yet recognized naturopathy for insurance coverage. Some of our clients do submit our receipts for reimbursement under special provisions of their health coverage. Contact your insurance provider for details of your policy.

Do you offer rewards for referrals?
Word-of-mouth referrals are the source of most of our new clients, and we usually have openings for new cases as current ones get better and move on in their lives. So we do offer our clients material encouragement to share their successes with family, co-workers and friends.
For each new client you send, we will be happy to provide you with a gift certificate for our services as a token of our appreciation. You can use it yourself or pass it on to someone else. For naturopathic sessions, the value is $75; for ONDAMED sessions, the value is equal to a 15% discount off the normal fee for a session.
