Bärbel Aldridge, ND
Bärbel Aldridge is a naturopath and the founder of Healing Ways, a leading naturopathic clinic located in Jamestown, NC. She has been in practice in the Greensboro area for over 18 years. Her specialty is finding and correcting energetic blockages in the body's energy pathways (meridians). This type of disorder is seen in acupuncture as the root cause of disease. Bärbel Aldridge's assessments of health rely on technology known as Electrodermal Screening (EDS), along with observation of physical signs of ill health or constitutional weakness, nutritional assessment, intuition and dialogue. Through this highly individualized process of evaluation, she arrives at a unique understanding of each patient's state of health.
Once she has identified the root causes of a patient's health concerns, she addresses them with a customized program of natural therapy including homeopathy and nutritional supplements. Stress alleviation is a natural by-product of her approach to health and healing, for many kinds of stress are the result of energy disturbances within the body. Thus it is sometimes possible to eliminate stress by increasing vitality rather than learning ways to manage it. Therapeutic approaches available at Healing Ways, Bärbel Aldridge's clinic, include bioenergetic therapies, colon irrigation, and dietary supplements. Her coaching supports patients in strengthening their mental, emotional, and physical health.
Bärbel Aldridge became an American Board Certified Naturopath in 2001 after graduating from the International College of Naturopathy in California. After intensive study in the United States, Canada, and her native Germany, where most of the technology for EDS originates, Bärbel Aldridge was certified as an instructor of EDS techniques by the leading manufacturer of EDS equipment in Germany so that she could make this knowledge available to American practitioners. She is currently the only practitioner/trainer so certified in North America. As such, she has presented trainings in both Canada and the USA.
Her background as a natural health practitioner extends back to the mid 1970's, when she began studying natural health and nutrition at a small organic farm in northern New Jersey. She and her husband Doug gained invaluable experience studying and applying natural health principles in daily life. The challenges and rewards of birthing four children at home and raising them with minimal recourse to medical care have been a source of great learning to her. In 1987 she entered a traditional apprenticeship with Harold Green, a Native American healer trained by Chief Two Trees of Old Fort, NC Everything that Bärbel Aldridge practices is based on experience of what works.
She went into practice as a natural health consultant seeing clients in Manhattan, NYC in 1988, and in 1990 she founded Healing Ways in Greensboro to serve a growing clientele in the Triad. Begun as a natural health practice specializing in colon health, a specialty in which Bärbel was certified after graduation from the Woods Institute of Colon Hygiene in 1987, Healing Ways has grown into the Triad's leading naturopathic clinic. In addition to Bärbel Aldridge's practice of EDS and "energy medicine," as bioenergetic assessment and therapy are sometimes called, therapies administered by other practitioners at Healing Ways include colon irrigation and bioenergetic assessment and therapy with the ONDAMED® Biofeedback System, an advanced modality in which Bärbel Aldridge and her husband Doug were trained and certified as practitioners in 2005.
As a teacher and inspirational speaker, Bärbel Aldridge has presented workshops in the USA and Canada on a range of subjects from the professional trainings mentioned above to workshops and seminars on healthy relationships, personal development, and natural health. Part of her mission as a healer is to make the knowledge and techniques of the rich tradition of natural healing in Germany more widely available in American health care.
Bärbel and Doug Aldridge have made their home in a remote area of the Blue Ridge Mountains in NE Tennessee for the past 23 years, and during this time they have practiced what they teach. Having successfully home birthed and home schooled their four children, and raised them relying mainly on home health care, this devoted couple are deeply experienced not only in the theory and technique of natural health care, but also in its physical, mental, emotional and spiritual applications in daily life.

Doug Aldridge, MA, Certified Bioenergetic Therapist
Doug draws on diverse experience and talents in his role as a bioenergetic therapist at Healing Ways.
As the primary certified ONDAMED® therapist, trained and certified in 2005, Doug administers an advanced form of bioenergetic therapy that complements the other modalities in use at the clinic. In his view, the role of all natural therapies is to energize the immune system so that the body is able to heal on its own, while therapies that circumvent the patient's immune system to suppress symptoms can at best buy precious time to deal with their underlying causes. All things originate as energy, physics teaches, and when a health concern heals at its energetic source, biochemical and metabolic changes follow naturally, and symptoms clear up as the body regulates to a higher level of homeostasis.
Although he has been with Healing Ways since 2005 as an ONDAMED® practitioner, Doug has been instrumental in manifesting the vision of Healing Ways as a naturopathic clinic, and in bringing advanced bioenergetic health technology from Germany to the Triad and Northeast Tennessee. He has been the husband of Bärbel Aldridge since 1976, and together they have nurtured the vision and laid the foundation of knowledge, experience and wisdom on which Healing Ways stands. Over the years he has built therapeutic equipment and workspaces, served as publicist for the practice, and co-presented educational seminars with Bärbel, including Healing Your Relationships and Walking in Spirit. And he has attended workshops and seminars to support their personal and professional growth.
Doug Aldridge in a 1972 graduate of William Patterson College of NJ, and he completed his MA at Appalachian State University in 1988, where he taught for several years before committing his full energies to building the family home, educating his and Bärbel's four children, and supporting their vision of creating a natural health practice that offers some of the least known but most advanced modalities for optimizing health.
